Poison Ivy

was doin some work pullin up weeds and got poison ivy all over my right hand and wrist...was wonderin if anyone knows of anything that works really good on it

It never bothers me, but was working outside a couple weekends ago and got covered from the ankles to the knees.

Nothing really works, but calamine lotion helps. It you don't want to look like a tool with white crap all over you, there is some new stuff that you can find next to the calamine lotion that is clear. It proabably works better. I think it's called Caladryl Clear. There are several versions of the clear though.

I was just scrape it with a knife until it opens up, then rub bleach all over it....

if it gets bad or you're allergic like me just go to the ER and get a shot it'll clear up really fast.

but honestly as bad as Blue's idea sounds it does work.

Bleach may burn like the dickens, but it will dry it up.

If you know that you've come in contact with poison ivy, spray alcohol on the affected areas as soon as you can. This will kill ivy before it even starts.

i wound up just goin to the doctor today and gettin a shot...it aint bad and they said it should clear up tonight...we'll see i guess

Next time (no joke) cut up a potato in flat layers. Continue applying the layers to the infected area. The potato will start out turning red, but as you continue to discard the red layers and apply new potatos, they will become lighter and lighter. Once the layers are next to their natural color, simply remove and allow drying. By the next morning you will be able to scrape the dead (no longer itching) ivy infection off of your flesh. The starch in the potato sucks the infection/pus out of your skin and insta-dries the area. I know it sounds odd, but the Natives knew this long before we did, and it has worked like magic for me many times.
